The Iowa Hawkeyes are knocking on the door of the latest USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll and are just about ready to slam it down.
After an impressive 86-73 win on Sunday at Drake, Iowa is now 4-0 on the season ahead of its Wednesday night battle against Kansas.
As a result, Iowa is now the first team outside the top 25 in the latest USA TODAY Sports Women’s Basketball Coaches Poll. Iowa received 33 points to sit just outside the rankings.
The top five in Tuesday’s rankings saw no movement. South Carolina is still No. 1, UConn is No. 2, USC is No. 3, Texas is No. 4 and Notre Dame is No. 5.
In addition to USC, the Big Ten sees six other teams inside the newest top 25. UCLA is ranked No. 6, Ohio State No. 11, Maryland No. 13, Nebraska No. 19, Illinois No. 23 and Oregon No. 25.
Penn State, Michigan State and Michigan are all receiving votes as well.
The Hawkeyes return to action with their neutral-site date against the Jayhawks on Wednesday night from inside Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, S.D. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. CT and the game will be televised on the Big Ten Network.
