- It’s a headline Sunday in the AFC, starting in the early slate. Pittsburgh leads the AFC North but has yet to play any divisional games. They open with the Ravens, who have won seven of their last eight games, at home on Sunday. With a win, the Steelers can take a one-game lead atop the division, while the Ravens can take the AFC North lead with a victory.
- The headline day continues with one of the AFC’s best rivalries in recent years: the Bills and the Chiefs, the top two seeds in the playoff picture. Since 2020, Buffalo is 3-1 against the Chiefs in the regular season but 0-3 in the postseason. The Bills can end the Chiefs’ longest undefeated start in the Patrick Mahomes era with their first home win over Kansas City since Sept. 16, 2012.
- The NFC North has been the best division in football this year. It has three teams in playoff position entering this week. Chicago’s dropped three straight since their Week 7 bye and hosts the Packers, who are fresh of their bye and hold the No. 7 seed. This is the first of three consecutive divisional games for the Bears and could set the tone for the second half of the season.
- San Francisco overcame a rough day on special teams to get by the Buccaneers 23-20 in Week 10. With the Cardinals on a bye, can the 49ers beat a Seattle team that had an extra week of preparation? This home game is critical to San Francisco’s playoff chances and just as important for Seattle’s hopes, with star wideout DK Metcalf likely back in the lineup.
- In the the AFC wild card race, Cincinnati’s heartbreaking loss to Baltimore in Week 10 puts them a game back from the Broncos for the No. 7 seed. If they can get right in primetime against the Chargers, they could enter their bye with a much more positive outlook.
