Erie has been named to a list of the Top 20 Most Uplifting Cities in America.
The 20 cities were ones in which generosity, optimism, friendliness, volunteerism and spirituality were valued by the greatest percentage of the population, according to a news release from UP Entertainment.
The list was announced Wednesday by UP Entertainment, which provides uplifting entertainment across cable, satellite and streaming platforms. Its brands include UP Faith & Family, UPtv, aspireTV, aspireTV+, GaitherTV+ and Cine Romántico, according to the release.
The news release said that cities within each census region were selected based on having the highest percentage of residents who said they were an optimist, a spiritual person, giving and friendly and they volunteer their time for a good cause.
Under highlights, the UP Entertainment release said that Erie hosts the Keystone Nonprofit Conference through The Nonprofit Partnership. KeyCon is a conference for nonprofit professionals with learning and networking opportunities and partner/vendor connections. The release also noted that the nonprofit sector employs 19% of Erie’s workforce. Erie was also recognized for having Erie’s Black Wall Street, which is dedicated to fostering Black excellence and wealth while building a stronger, more connected community.
