NFL Week 8 Overreactions
Mackenzie Salmon breaks down the wildest games from Week 8.
Sports Seriously
The Miami Dolphins may have seen quarterback Tua Tagovailoa return last week, but they still suffered a last-second defeat to the Arizona Cardinals. Regardless, the Dolphins‘ offense finally looked somewhat capable, but any momentum they might have built up in Week 8 could very well be destroyed when they face the Buffalo Bills in Week 9.
The Bills have had the Dolphins’ number in recent years. The Bills have won five straight matchups and 12 of the last 13, and 13 of 14 is seeming more likely by the day. After an up-and-down start to the year, Bills’ quarterback Josh Allen has re-emerged as an MVP candidate and helped the Bills win three straight games. Can they keep the good vibes rolling against a desperate Dolphins team?
Here are our experts’ predictions for this Week 9 showdown.

Jets vs. Texans | Falcons vs. Cowboys | Ravens vs. Broncos | Bills vs. Dolphins | Panthers vs. Saints | Bengals vs. Raiders | Browns vs. Chargers | Giants vs. Commanders | Titans vs. Patriots | Cardinals vs. Bears | Eagles vs. Jaguars | Packers vs. Lions | Seahawks vs. Rams | Vikings vs. Colts | Chiefs vs. Buccaneers
Miami is simply too inconsistent on offense, and the Bills have owned the Dolphins; including the playoffs, Buffalo has won 12 of the last 13 in this matchup. The game is in Buffalo as fall weather sets in, and this Dolphins team lacks toughness and physicality. I love the Bills in this spot.
Tua Tagovailoa made his triumphant return in Week 8 and the Dolphins still lost. Up next is a Bills team that’s defeated Miami five straight times. The Bills will continue to have Miami’s number in this AFC East battle.
Miami fell short in Tua Tagovailoa’s return but that won’t happen two weeks in a row. I like the Dolphins to pull off the road upset and start a climb toward a playoff spot.
Buffalo has owned Miami, and this week should be no different. Questions start to arise about the Dolphins’ season.
