NFL Week 7 picks and predictions
Lorenzo Reyes is 13-6 so far on the season, and is back with his best bets for NFL Week 7 games.
The New Orleans Saints and Denver Broncos kicked off Week 7 of the NFL season on “Thursday Night Football.” The one-sided affair saw the Broncos build a 30-point lead by the fourth quarter before a late Saints touchdown brought the game to its final score of 33-10.
This was Broncos head coach Sean Payton’s first game in New Orleans since retiring from the Saints’ head coaching position after 15 seasons at the helm. After Denver’s win, Payton spent time on the field talking with many Saints players he coached, including defensive lineman Cameron Jordan and running back Alvin Kamara.
Kamara spending extra time talking with Payton sparked rumors of him asking for a trade. He’s since responded to those rumors on Saturday.
Kamara posted on X responding directly to a now-deleted post stating he has formally requested a trade with one word: “incorrect.”
He posted on X that he’s in Knoxville – home of his alma mater, the Tennessee Volunteers – for the college football game between No. 7-ranked Alabama and No. 11 Tennessee.
Minutes later, he responded to NewOrleans.Football’s Nick Underhill report that Kamara “would like to find a way to finish his career here,” posting that Underhill is right.
He also wrote that he’ll report any trade news himself or through his friend and longtime Saints teammate Michael Thomas.
Report: Contract talks ‘reopened’ between the Saints and Alvin Kamara
Kamara is in the penultimate year of his current contract with the Saints. The 29-year-old running back signed a five-year, $75 million extension with the Saints ahead of the 2020 NFL season. Here’s what is still left on that deal against the salary cap:
If the Saints were to cut Kamara prior to June 1, 2025, New Orleans would carry $10.1 million on the salary cap in dead money but would save the remaining $18.9 million. There are also another two void years tacked onto the deal to spread out his signing bonus.
In 2024, Kamara leads the team in rushing with 111 carries for 438 yards and six touchdowns. He also leads the team in receptions with 34 along with 252 yards and one receiving touchdown.
