NFL Week 5 Overreactions: Ravens are back, Bills playoff hopes are dwindling
Sports Seriously’s Mackenzie Salmon ‘overreacts’ to the biggest storylines from Week 5— including the Vikings’ 5-0 start and the Cowboys’ thriller victory on SNF.
Sports Seriously
The Denver Broncos may have started the season slow, but their offense has started to come together. Courtland Sutton suddenly emerged as a legitimate air threat. Javonte Williams picked up steam as both a rusher and pass-catcher, and Bo Nix is starting to look more comfortable in the pocket. However, despite improvements, it’s been their defense carrying them to a 3-2 record.
The offense will need to take an even bigger step up in Week 6 taking on the Los Angeles Chargers, who are fresh off a bye week. The Chargers will be well-rested, having now had two weeks to prep for their game against Denver. A lot of things can go wrong for both teams in this contest, but the winner will take over second place in the AFC West. There’s a lot to play for in this one.
Here are our experts’ predictions for this Week 6 AFC West showdown.

Seahawks vs. 49ers | Bears vs. Jaguars | Ravens vs. Commanders | Packers vs. Cardinals | Patriots vs. Texans | Saints vs. Buccaneers | Eagles vs. Browns | Titans vs. Colts | Broncos vs. Chargers | Raiders vs. Steelers | Panthers vs. Falcons | Cowboys vs. Lions | Giants vs. Bengals | Jets vs. Bills
Yes, the Chargers are coming off their bye, but Denver is playing really well, winners of its last three. In particular, it’s the defense that is carrying the squad, and Justin Herbert, who has already been banged up, may be facing constant pressure.
Did the Week 5 bye help jumpstart the Chargers offense? That remains to be seen, but I think Justin Herbert, J.K. Dobbins and the Chargers offense can muster up enough points to get a victory in Denver. The Chargers quietly have a top-5 defense. The Broncos are on three game winning streak. Bo Nix has thrown three touchdowns and no interceptions in the past three contests.
The Broncos have been rolling and Bo Nix is showing much more confidence. The home crowd powers Denver to a fourth-straight win in a gritty contest.
