Buffalo Bills at Houston Texans: Predictions, picks and odds for NFL Week 5 game

October 2, 2024

After a devastating loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday night, the Buffalo Bills are no longer undefeated, but they’ll look to get back on track with a game against C.J. Stroud and the Houston Texans this Sunday.

Bills quarterback Josh Allen, who has gone back and forth between MVP-caliber play and subpar performance this season, is aiming to bounce back after a Week 4 outing that saw him complete 55.2% of his passes. That will be tough though against a Houston Texans‘ defense that has allowed the fifth-fewest yards in the league.

Here are our experts’ predictions for this exciting Week 5 showdown.

Lorenzo Reyes: Bills 24, Texans 23

This will be a fascinating game, though I could frankly see it going both ways. Houston has cooled some since a blazing hot start, while the Bills will certainly look to bounce back after getting throttled Sunday night. Houston’s rushing game is nowhere near Baltimore’s, and stopping the run is where the Bills are weakest on defense.

Tyler Dragon: Texans 24, Bills 21

How will the Bills respond after getting beat down by the Ravens? Things won’t get much easier for Buffalo in Houston. The Texans will use their aerial attack to beat the Bills. WR Nico Collins has an NFL-high 489 receiving yards entering Week 5.

Jordan Mendoza: Texans 34, Bills 30

This one has the makings of a classic. Both offenses can put on a show, but the Texans get it done with a score in the final minutes.
