Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice had to be carted to the locker room after suffering an apparent knee injury against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 4.

On a play in which quarterback Patrick Mahomes threw an interception to Kristian Fulton in the first quarter, Rice and Mahomes attempted to tackle the cornerback near the sideline. Mahomes lowered his shoulder trying to make the play but collided with the front of Rice’s right knee instead of hitting Fulton.

Rice needed assistance from medical personnel to get off of the field and later took a cart back to the Chiefs‘ locker room. He was ruled out of the game, and he is feared to have suffered a serious injury.

Here’s the latest on the Chiefs’ young receiver:

Rice collided with his quarterback while trying to tackle a Chargers cornerback after an interception. Mahomes appeared to hit the front of the receiver’s knee while trying to make a play, and Rice had to be carted off to the locker room after needing assistance to exit the field.

Following the Chiefs’ 17-10 victory, Reid said that Rice would be having an MRI on his knee on Monday but that the outlook was not positive.

“I feel terrible for Rashee,” he said. “We will hope for the best.”

Shortly after the game, several NFL insiders including – ESPN’s Adam Schefter and NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport – reported that the Chiefs fear Rice has suffered a season-ending ACL tear.

The Chiefs ruled out Rice for the remainder of Sunday’s game after the injury. During the game, head coach Andy Reid told CBS Sports’ Tracy Wolfson, “it’s not good.”
