The Week 4 “Sunday Night Football” matchup pits the Buffalo Bills against the Baltimore Ravens. Both teams are penning interesting starts to their 2024 seasons, as well.
Josh Allen looks about as good as Josh Allen has ever looked in the NFL: The Bills passer is leading the MVP charge on the back of a 75% completion rate, seven passing touchdowns and 133.7 passing rating this season.
It hasn’t been the same offensive success for the Ravens just yet. Lamar Jackson has three touchdown passes through his first three games to pair with a sole rushing touchdown. The Ravens sit 1-2 on the season and escaped Dallas with a win in Week 3, a potential course correction after their 0-2 start.

There was one notable stat that stood out as a potential problem for Jackson. He completed just 59.1 percent of his passes during his final college season and just 57 percent total for his college career. It’s rare for quarterbacks to significantly improve their accuracy and efficiency at the NFL level so Jackson’s “tendency to miss on simple throws,” as NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein put it, was a concern some talent evaluators had.
That’s also why a select few – like former Indianapolis Colts general manager and ESPN talent Bill Polian – argued that Jackson should move to receiver at the NFL level.
Few agreed with Polian’s take, though Jackson revealed on one of the Ravens’ podcasts that the Los Angeles Chargers asked him to work out as a receiver at the 2018 NFL Combine.
The makeover of the Bills’ receivers corps without Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis, a free agency departure, has underscored Josh Allen’s growth in a diversified offense. Sure, third-year pro Khalil Shakir, a blazer who stretches the field, continues to step up. Shakir has been targeted 14 times and produced 14 catches. Yet balance has been the ticket for Allen.
“I think he’s spreading the ball out more,” Ravens defensive coordinator Zach Orr told reporters this week. “You really don’t know where the ball is going to go. All of his receivers are liable to get the ball in any situation at any point in time – including the running backs and the tight ends.”
The No. 1 team on NBC’s Sunday night football will stay intact, at least for the foreseeable future.
According to a report from The Athletic, NBC Sports is close to securing a new four-year contract extension with top analyst Cris Collinsworth. The extension will keep him with the network through the 2029-30 season. His current contract runs through the 2026 season.
NBC is scheduled to broadcast two more Super Bowls in the next six years, including Super Bowl 60 in 2026 and Super Bowl 64 in 2030.
Collinsworth, 65, who has won seven Emmy Awards for Outstanding Sports Studio Analyst, makes about $12.5 million a year and has teamed up with Mike Tirico to call games.

Weather conditions will be worth monitoring during the Bills vs. Ravens game on “Sunday Night Football.” It will be 68 degrees with 90 percent humidity when the game kicks off, and rain is “likely” to start falling around 9:45 p.m. ET, per Weather.com.
Wind will be blowing up to 8 mph throughout the game, so that could create a challenging environment for kickers once the rain arrives. It shouldn’t be too difficult for Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson to throw early in the game, but it may get more difficult as rain slicks the ball later in the night.
