One of these teams was expected to take a step back this season. The other was expected to take a massive leap forward. Through two weeks, the opposite has happened.

After losing offensive coordinator Dave Canales to the Carolina Panthers this offseason, everyone believed Baker Mayfield and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers‘ offense would be a shadow of what it was in 2023. At the same time, after drafting Oregon product Bo Nix with the 12th overall pick in the 2024 draft, everyone bought into the preseason hype, expecting Nix to take this Denver Broncos‘ offense to the next level.

In reality, Tampa Bay got better, and Denver got much worse. Now, these two surprises square off in a Week 3 matchup. Can the Broncos find their footing? Can Tampa Bay keep the good vibes rolling against a solid Broncos’ defense?

Lorenzo Reyes: Buccaneers 21, Broncos 13

While I think the Buccaneers cover here, I don’t love that this line is a touchdown. Todd Bowles typically has success scheming against rookie quarterbacks; he already shut down Jayden Daniels and the Commanders in Week 1. Tampa Bay should win here, I think there are better plays out there.

Tyler Dragon: Buccaneers 21, Broncos 13

Chris Godwin and Mike Evans are currently playing like the top receiving duo in the NFL. The two have combined for 303 receiving yards and four touchdowns. Pat Surtain II is a good corner, but he can’t cover both of them. Denver won’t be able to score enough points to keep up with Tampa Bay.

Richard Morin: Buccaneers 24, Broncos 9

The last two weeks I’ve been saying, “Don’t go against Bo!” However, that statement doesn’t seem to be correct in the slightest. Denver is in trouble.

Jordan Mendoza: Buccaneers 21, Broncos 9

The Denver offense has been one of the worst offenses in the NFL and Tampa Bay is coming off a game where it neutralized the Lions. Baker Mayfield cruises toward a victory while questions continue to rise for Bo Nix.
