Bengals Wrap: Patriots roll over slow Week 1 Bengals
Enquirer beat reporter Kelsey Conway breaks down the Bengals Week 1 loss to the New England Patriots.
A pair of 1-0 teams duke it out in Week 2 as the Seattle Seahawks travel to Foxborough to take on the New England Patriots. Both teams took care of business in Week 1, but the Patriots‘ win was definitely more impressive than Seattle’s.
Seattle managed to squeeze out a one-possession victory over an atrocious Denver Broncos offense. Meanwhile, the Patriots were able to take down Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals, many people’s favorites to win the AFC North. While the Bengals were without star receiver Tee Higgins, the Patriots’ defense still showed stoutness, holding Cincy to less than 200 yards passing and earning three sacks on the day.
Rookie head coach Jerod Mayo will look to keep the good vibes rolling against a Seattle team that couldn’t manage to get Jaxon Smith-Njigba or DK Metcalf going in their Week 1 win.

FEELING LUCKY? Here are the best parlay bets and odds for NFL games this week
Dolphins vs. Bills | Ravens vs. Raiders | Panthers vs. Chargers | Cowboys vs. Saints | Lions vs. Buccaneers | Packers vs. Colts | Jaguars vs. Browns | Vikings vs. 49ers | Patriots vs. Seahawks | Titans vs. Jets | Commanders vs. Giants | Cardinals vs. Rams | Chiefs vs. Bengals | Broncos vs. Steelers | Texans vs. Bears | Eagles vs. Falcons
I still want to see a bit more from both these squads before feeling confident about either, but I did come away impressed with New England and its defensive domination of Cincinnati. Still, I recognize that the Pats on the moneyline is a bit of a risk, so I’ll ride with Seattle straight up. The key will be if Kenneth Walker and the Seahawk running game can produce against a tough New England defense.
Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo deserves a lot of credit for how New England performed in the biggest upset of Week 1. The Patriots are going to try to play physically and run downhill with RB Rhamondre Stevenson. But Seattle has the personnel to limit Stevenson’s production, and enough firepower on offense.
Can the Patriots do it again? Seattle making the cross-country trip and playing in the early window against a team that seems to have some early belief? Give me New England at +3.
The upset win over Cincinnati proved New England will go as far as its defense goes. Seattle recovered from a slow start against Denver, and it’ll be in a slugfest on the cross-country road trip. Still, the Seahawks do just enough for a close win.
