Research analyzed by Legal U.S. Poker Stars found that Michigan is the state that gambles the 9th most in the United States.

The organization found that Michigan had an index score of 21.99/100, just ahead of Indiana with 21.52/100.

In Michigan, spending per capita on gambling is $452.85 with an average income spending rate of 77.91%.

Statewide, Michigan has 26 casinos servicing gamblers and a casino gambling search volume of 49,686.

According to Play Michigan, between retail and online casino gambling the state topped $3.15 billion in 2023 with a growth rate of 32.7% since 2021.

Sports betting in Michigan was over $4.63 billion between online and retail in 2023 with an increase of 21.3% since 2021.

Michigan’s horse racing industry benefited from over $6.9 million in taxes collected in 2022 on various forms of betting regulated by the MGCB. This includes internet wagering and simulcast wagering on horse racing, internet casino gaming and online sports betting.
