Tech Conferences in September 2024

Oracle CloudWorld

The CloudWorld conference allows Oracle’s customers, users, and partners to learn about the company’s latest innovations, discover how their peers are getting the most from their investments, and make connections with their peers. The event is the largest gathering of the global Oracle community and draws up to 20,000 attendees.

Most sessions will at least tangentially refer to Oracle’s products, such as applications, cloud infrastructure, or databases, but they will also include best practices for integration, digital transformation, cloud management, and process improvement. Formats vary from main-stage keynotes on topics like AI and cloud technology to smaller, solution-oriented keynotes targeted at job roles or specific industries. Hands-on labs, digital training and certification, and even pre-event training sessions will also be available, although some may require an additional fee.

Various Oracle executives will deliver the keynote sessions. Chief Executive Officer Safra A. Catz is expected to lead a panel discussion on how global organizations have successfully implemented the cloud and AI. Chairman of the Board and Chief Technology Officer Larry Ellison is scheduled to present Oracle’s vision for incorporating artificial intelligence into the company’s products and services.

DreamForce 2024

Salesforce launched the Dreamforce conference in 2003. For more than two decades, it has been one of the largest business events in the world, bringing as many as 40,000 people to the San Francisco area. Salesforce may have started as a mere customer relationship management tool, but now the company – and the conference – address areas like customer service, marketing, artificial intelligence, data management, and automation.

The three-day conference offers over 1,000 breakout sessions, 150 workshops and demos, and plenty of networking opportunities. Formats include product and industry breakouts, theater sessions, workshops, and roundtables. Attendees can also reserve seats in advance for hands-on training and certification exams.

The speaker list for Dreamforce includes business leaders like Marc Benioff, Chair, CEO and Co-Founder of Salesforce, Daniela Amodei, President and Co-Founder of Anthropic, and Jessica Sibley, CEO of TIME; actors and actresses including Kerry Washington, Matthew McConaughey, Kate Hudson, and Edward Norton; and notable public figures such as ​​Dr. Jane Goodall, Soledad O’Brien, San Francisco Mayor London N. Breed, and Paul Ryan, Speaker of the US House of Representatives. P!NK and Imagine Dragons will perform at Dreamfest, an exclusive entertainment and charity event for conference attendees.

Mandiant Worldwide Information Security Exchange (mWISE)

The Mandiant Worldwide Information Security Exchange, often shortened to mWISE, evolved out of the Mandiant Cyber Defense Summit. Although Mandiant was acquired by Google in 2022, the conference attempts to maintain a vendor-agnostic approach and brings around 1,500 members of the cybersecurity community together to share insights and best practices.

The two-day conference offers more than 70 sessions, including keynotes, breakout sessions, and expert panels, across eight conference tracks. These include cloud security, intelligence, the intersection of AI and cybersecurity, strategies for the next-gen CISO, security engineering, security operations, security threats and exploits, and third-party and cyber risk management.

Keynote speakers include Jen Easterly, Director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), and David Eagleman, neuroscientist and host of PBS’s The Brain. They will discuss the speed of AI’s development. John Hultquist, Chief Analyst of Mandiant Intelligence, will present the latest insights on emerging threats.

InfoSec World

2024 marks the 30th year of InfoSec World, one of the most well-known cybersecurity conferences. It began as a place for information security practitioners and executives to discuss the business of security and currently attracts about 2,500 attendees, from CISOs, CTOs, and CIOs to developers, architects, engineers, and even product managers.

This year’s event is themed “rethink, reinvent, renew.” It focuses on seven key areas: the threat horizon, defense in depth, building a security-first organization, keeping pace with changing compliance rules, leadership skills, career opportunities, and AI. Attendees can choose from more than 100 sessions, including keynotes, breakout sessions, workshops, and panel discussions. Before and after the conference, full-day workshops and summits will dive deep into topics like the NIST Cybersecurity Framework, threat modeling, and vendor risk.

Zack Kass, futurist and former OpenAI executive, Amy Bogac, former CISO at Clorox, and Todd Fitzgerald, Vice President of Cybersecurity Strategy at Cybersecurity Collaborative, are all scheduled to give keynote talks. Attendees can also earn continuing education credits for select sessions.

Meta Connect

Meta Connect has had many names over the years – first Oculus Connect in 2014, then Facebook Connect in 2020. The conference was renamed Meta Connect when the company rebranded in 2021. Throughout it all, the main theme has been emerging technology mixed reality, artificial intelligence, and wearable devices.

The event is primarily virtual, as attendees are encouraged to watch it live on Facebook or in virtual reality through Meta Horizon Worlds. Mark Zuckerberg will present the keynote and is expected to share the company’s roadmap for AI and the metaverse and show off a new wearable device, likely augmented reality glasses.There will also be a keynote session for executives to highlight the latest technologies that developers can use to build new immersive experiences.
