Simone Biles is arguably the greatest gymnast of all time, and she is looking to add to her legacy at the 2024 Olympics. This time, she will be able to do so in front of loved ones in Paris after the COVID-19 pandemic prevented her family from traveling to Tokyo in 2021.
That means Biles’ husband will get to see her compete live in Olympic competition for the first time.
Who is Biles’ husband? Here’s what to know about her relationship with NFL safety Jonathan Owens.

Jonathan Owens is Simone Biles’ husband. The 29-year-old plays in the NFL and has carved out a career for himself since going undrafted in 2018 out of Missouri Western.
Owens and Biles met in 2020, when Owens was still playing for the Texans. They met on the exclusive dating app Raya and hit it off immediately — in part because Owens admittedly didn’t know much about Biles.
“I didn’t know who she was,” Owens said in an interview with Texas Monthly. “I just hadn’t heard of her, and when I told her that, that’s one of the things she liked.”
The two began dating and eventually married in 2023. Owens will be among those in tow to support Biles at the 2024 Olympics after getting a week-long exemption from the Bears to miss minicamp.

Owens looks huge when standing next to Biles, but he is listed at just 5-11 on the Bears’ active roster. Even at that size — which is below average for an NFL player — he is 15 inches taller than Biles, who stands at just 4-8.
Owens has played for four teams during his NFL career. They are as follows:
Owens got his first actual NFL playing time with the Texans. He didn’t play a defensive snap until 21, but he became a solid special teams player and reserve safety for them during his final years in Houston.
Owens also met Biles while living in Houston, which is where the Team USA gymnast lives and trains.

Owens played just seven games in his first three NFL seasons before finally getting a chance to prove himself on defense in 2021. He didn’t log a tackle in his first three seasons but eventually became one of the most productive players in Houston’s secondary.
Below is a look at his stats from his time with the Texans and the Packers:
Year | Team | Games | Tackles | TFL | Sacks | INTs | Pass defenses |
2019 | Texans | 1 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
2020 | Texans | 6 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
2021 | Texans | 7 | 18 | 0 | 0 | 1 | 1 |
2022 | Texans | 17 | 125 | 0 | 1 | 0 | 4 |
2023 | Packers | 17 | 84 | 2 | 1 | 0 | 3 |
Total | — | 48 | 227 | 2 | 2 | 1 | 8 |
Owens will hope to have a third consecutive productive season as he joins the Bears in 2024.
Owens signed a two-year contract with the Bears in 2024 free agency. The deal is worth up to $4.75 million with $1.5 million guaranteed.
Below is a breakdown of the contract, per Spotrac.com.
Year | Base salary | Bonuses | Cap hit | Dead cap |
2024 | $1,310,000 | $915,000 | $2,225,000 | $1,500,000 |
2025 | $1,610,000 | $915,000 | $2,525,000 | $375,000 |
The contract seems like a mutually beneficial pact for Owens and the Bears, who needed a veteran backup safety and special teams presence on their roster.
That said, Chicago is getting the better end of the deal, as they will be able to move on from Owens after the 2024 season with a dead cap hit of just $375,000 if things don’t work out. As such, they are maintaining flexibility while Owens is still playing on a year-to-year basis.

Owens’ net worth is an estimated $2 million, per Celebrity Net Worth. Comparatively, Biles has an estimated net worth of $16 million, according to the site.
Owens’ new contract could cause this figure to rise. He had career earnings of $3,246,072 before his new deal, per Spotrac.com. If he earns the entirety of his contract, he will improve his earnings to just shy of $8 million by the end of the 2025 season.
