Bryson DeChambeau sealed his second Major and second US Open title in a thrilling final day at Pinehurst No.2.
The Golfing Scientist hit a sensational bunker shot on the 72nd hole to save par and pip Rory McIlroy by a single stroke.
DeChambeau finished at six-under-par after carding a one-over-par 71 on Sunday, courtesy of two birdies and three bogeys.
Bryson is set to move back inside the world’s top 10 for the first time in over two years and takes home a huge $4.3m paycheck – which is even larger than LIV Golf’s first prizes.
He was the only LIV player inside the top-10 at the end of the week, where eight of LIV’s 12 players made the cut. Jon Rahm should have made it 13 LIV players but withdrew due to injury earlier in the week.
Rahm’s compatriot Sergio Garcia finished 2nd on the LIV leaderboard in T12th, with Garcia recording his best Major finish since his 2017 Masters win. The Spaniard ended at one-over, with two-time US Open champion Brooks Koepka and Tyrrell Hatton the next LIV players down the leaderboard at six-over.
Cameron Smith (+7), David Puig (+11), Martin Kaymer (+13) and Dean Burmester (+15) were the remaining LIV players to make the cut.
Six-time US Open runner-up Phil Mickelson, who was 15-over for 36-holes, missed the cut along with Adrian Meronk, 2016 winner Dustin Johnson and Major debutant Eugenio Chacarra.
