ORLANDO – The Orlando Magic is fighting after a three-game losing streak set the team back in the Eastern Conference playoff picture.
The team took care of business against the Memphis Grizzlies and Portland Trail Blazers to pull within 0.5 game of the No. 4 seed and just one game of the No. 3 seed.
However, the three losses to the Sacramento Kings, Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Clippers pushed the team back one spot in CBS Sports’ latest power rankings from No. 9 to 10.
“The Magic lost home games to the Warriors and Clippers this week before getting back on track against the Grizzlies and Blazers,” CBS Sports writes. “Despite the losses, Orlando is still well-positioned to fight for a top-three seed in the East — which still sounds kind of weird to say out loud.”
The Magic remains in the top 10, but sits behind the New Orleans Pelicans, Phoenix Suns, Milwaukee Bucks, Los Angeles Clippers, Dallas Mavericks, Denver Nuggets, Minnesota Timberwolves, Boston Celtics and Oklahoma City Thunder.
The Magic continues its quest towards the No. 3 seed this week as the team visits the Pelicans on Wednesday and the Charlotte Hornets on Friday before returning home to face the Chicago Bulls on Sunday.
