After a trade with the Indianapolis Colts, the Carolina Panthers selected Texas RB Jonathon Brooks with the 46th pick of the 2024 NFL draft. Brooks spent three seasons with the Longhorns, leading the team in rushing during its 2023 CFP season and was a Doak Walker Award semifinalist.
Brooks’ NFL Draft prospects took a hit with his season-ending ACL injury in November. He averaged 114 yards in his 10 games, however, including a 218-yard day against Kansas. Playing behind Bijan Robinson and Roschon Johnson his first two years, Brooks started only eight games at Texas.
Brooks is listed at 6-foot-2, and weighs in at 216 lbs. He’s a Hallettsville, Texas native and attended Hallettsville (Tx.) High School.
In 22 career games, Brooks tallied 238 carries, 1,479 yards and 16 touchdowns.
Brooks had a career day in a 40-14 win over No. 24 Kansas, rushing for 218 yards and two touchdowns, including a 67-yarder. It was the fourth-best rushing performance ever by a Longhorn against a ranked team.
Because he was still rehabbing from his knee surgery, Brooks was in Indianapolis but did not run or work out at the combine. Nor did he work out for scouts at UT’s pro day. He did, however, go through team interviews.
