The Cleveland Browns selected Ohio State defensive tackle Mike Hall Jr. with the 54th pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. He spent three seasons with the Buckeyes. Here’s everything you need to know about Hall.
An integral piece of the defensive line rotation at Ohio State in recent years, Hall emerged as a productive interior pass rusher. Though a bit undersized, his quickness off the line of scrimmage allowed him to lead the Buckeyes in sacks as he broke out as a redshirt freshman in 2022. He was featured more heavily in pass-rush situations than on run downs as he rotated with other tackles. He figures to remain an ideal fit as a three-technique defensive lineman.
Hall is listed at 6-foot-3 and weighs in at 290 lbs. He attended Streetsboro High School (Ohio) and was born in the same town.
Across 28 games with the Buckeyes, Hall Jr. notched 45 tackles, including 20 tackles for loss and six sacks.
Hall was a revelation in the Buckeyes’ season-opening win over Notre Dame in 2022. After redshirting as a freshman the previous year, he broke into the rotation and was a major disruption in the Irish’s backfield, penetrating a stout offensive line to finish with two tackles for a loss and a sack.
After an injured hamstring kept Hall from working out at the combine, he went through on-field testing at the Buckeyes’ pro day last month and was told that he ran the 40-yard dash in the range of 4.75 seconds.
