April 26, 2024

The Kansas City Chiefs selected Texas WR Xavier Worthy with the 28th pick of the 2024 NFL draft. Worthy spent three seasons with the Longhorns, finishing with the third-most career touchdown catches in school history and sixth-most receptions.

Worthy has been Texas’ top receiver seemingly since his first game in 2021. He caught passes from four different starting quarterbacks but remained very consistent — 12 TDs as a freshman and nine as a sophomore, and while sharing targets with Adonai Mitchell last season still produced career highs in receptions and yards.

Worthy won the combine, his 4.21 in the 40 breaking the combine’s record and landing his combine shirt and shoes in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. After that, he didn’t need to run the 40 at UT’s pro day, but he did run routes and catch passes.
