For the third straight year Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) came out as the top U.S. airport in the annual Skytrax World Airport Awards. Skytrax uses over 13 million air passenger satisfaction surveys to come up with their ratings. For the past two years, SEA was rated the Best Airport in North America.
Overall, SEA rated #24 in the World’s Top 100 rankings, just below Vancouver International Airport (YVR), which took the Best Airport in North America title this year, rated at #17. In 2023, SEA was #18 in the world ranking, and it was #27 in 2022, both tops in North America; SEA ended a string of 12 straight years at #1 for YVR.
In 2023, SEA served over 50.8 million passengers, just short of its record year in 2019 at 51.8 million passengers. Forecasts project SEA will exceed the 2019 record this year.
Hamad International Airport in Doha took the #1 spot as the Work’s Best Airport of 2024, followed by Singapore Changi Airport and Seoul Incheon Airport.
Travelers have highlighted several of SEA’s recently completed improvement projects including the N Concourse Modernization, International Arrivals Facility, Automated Parking Guidance System, and Central Terminal Renovation.
SEA is in the middle of a five-year, $5 billion capital investment dubbed Upgrade SEA. Multiple major projects are underway including the SEA Gateway, C Concourse Expansion, Checkpoint 1 Relocation, Restroom Renovations (including the first all-gender restroom), and Roadway Improvements.
