MINNESOTA — The Hewing Hotel in Minneapolis is the best hotel in Minnesota, according to a new ranking from U.S. News & World Report that highlights more than 37,000 hotels across more than 400 popular travel destinations.
U.S. News said the rankings are based on a comprehensive, transparent methodology that includes each hotel’s star rating, the aggregate opinion of published travel experts and overall customer satisfaction expressed in guest reviews of luxury hotels and resorts on TripAdvisor.
The top hotels in Minnesota, according to U.S. News, are:
- Hewing Hotel, Minneapolis
- Raddison Blu, Mall of America (Bloomington)
- Loews Minneapolis Hotel, Minneapolis
- JW Marriott Minneapolis, Mall of America (Bloomington)
- The Marquette Hotel, Minneapolis
- The Westin Edina Galleria
- Hotel Ivy, Minneapolis
- Canopy by Hilton, Minneapolis
- Hotel Landing, Wayzata
- Rand Tower, Minneapolis
- Elliot Park Hotel, Minneapolis
- Omni Viking Lakes Hotel, Eagan
- W Minneapolis – The Foshay
- InterContinental Minneapolis (MSP Airport)
- Four Seasons Hotel Minneapolis
The publication also ranks the nation’s best resort hotels. In Minnesota, the top five resorts are:
- Madden’s on Gull Lake
- Eddy’s Resort, Onamia
- Good Ol’ Days Family Resort, Nisswa
- Beacon Pointe on Lake Superior, Duluth
- Chase On The Lake Resort Hotel, Walker
Overall, the best U.S. hotels are:
- Acqualina Resort & Residences, Sunny Isles Beach, Florida
- Four Seasons Hotel at The Surf Club, Surfside, Florida
- The Langham, Chicago
- The Peninsula Chicago
- Montage Laguna Beach, California
The best U.S. resorts are:
- Acqualina Resort & Residences, Sunny Isles Beach, Florida
- Montage Laguna Beach, California
- Mauna Lani, Auberge Resorts Collection, Waimea, Hawaii
- Four Seasons Resort Orlando at Walt Disney World Resort., Florida

The hotels at the top of their respective lists recognize that today’s travelers want culturally authentic experiences and top-level service, according to Zach Watson, senior travel editor at U.S. News.
The 2024 Best Hotels rankings are intended to offer travelers dependable options to stay for every type of trip, “balancing location, amenities and quality service to ensure an enjoyable experience,” Watson said in a news release.
U.S. News also publishes rankings of hotels and resorts in Europe, Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean and Bermuda to help travelers plan their vacations and excursions.
