The 2024 United States Disc Golf Championship (USDGC) and Throw Pink Women’s Disc Golf Championship (TPWDGC) are kicking off in Rock Hill, South Carolina, on October 10th. While MPO players will be making the anticipated return to Winthrop University to tackle the final PDGA Pro Major of the year, the FPO field will take on a PDGA-sanctioned A-Tier showcase event playing on behalf of women everywhere fighting breast cancer. Winthrop’s Iconic layout features long demanding fairways, strategic out-of-bounds areas, and unique hazards like the famous bamboo wall on Hole 7 and a tight island on 17 with no room for error.
The final PDGA Pro Major of the season is here! Watching the USDGC live on DGN has given fans some unforgettable moments—like Gannon Buhr’s first Pro Major win in 2022, Holyn Handley’s chase card victory and playoff against Kristin Tattar in 2023, and Jeremy Koling’s “charity ace” shot where he became the first person ever to hit an ace in the annual distance showcase. It’s the perfect way to celebrate the beginning of the end of the season with just the DGPT Championship left next week in Charlotte, NC.
Full live coverage will be exclusive to DGN Pro subscribers, but all DGN subscribers can still enjoy some of the action. For access details and upgrade options, check out our media plan. Don’t forget that everyone can catch Round 1 for free on the DGPT YouTube channel.

The weather looks mostly favorable for the 2024 USDGC and TPWDGC. The only chance for rain is on Thursday, but it’s a slim possibility and shouldn’t have much impact. Temperatures will gradually warm up through Sunday, starting in the upper 60s to low 70s and reaching the upper 70s to low 80s by the weekend. Winds are expected to stay light throughout, with Thursday likely seeing the strongest winds. Hurricane Milton will be monitored closely, but any effects are expected to be minimal at this time.
Here’s a look at the top storylines headed into this weekend:
1️⃣ Missy Gannon Returns as DGPT Points Champion
Missy Gannon, fresh off winning her first DGPT Points title, returns to Rock Hill where she claimed the inaugural Throw Pink title in 2021. Gannon has had a stellar season with five Elite Series victories and just passed the $300K career earnings milestone. As one of the most consistent performers this year, Gannon looks to add another big win to her resume.
2️⃣ Kristin Tattar’s Quest for the Throw Pink Title
Kristin Tattar has been the runner-up at Throw Pink for two straight years, losing in a playoff last year to Holyn Handley. With six Major and Elite Series wins in 2024—more than any other player—Tattar is poised to break through. She’ll be hungry for redemption after another close call at the MVP Open, where she notched her fourth consecutive runner-up finish at that event.
3️⃣ Holyn Handley Defends Her Title
Holyn Handley, the 2023 Throw Pink champion, has been one of the most consistent players on tour with 10 podium finishes and 19 top-10s in 2024. Her ability to deliver in high-pressure moments, like last year’s playoff win over Tattar, makes her a serious threat to repeat. Handley’s career-best 999-rated performance at Throw Pink in 2023 was a springboard for an impressive season, including three Elite Series wins.
4️⃣ A Glimpse of the Future?
Iida Lehtomäki isn’t your average 15-year-old—she’s a disc golf prodigy! After crushing it in the Finnish amateur leagues, she’s headed to the U.S. for the Throw Pink Women’s Disc Golf Championship. Get the full scoop on her epic rise from Frisbeegolfmedia! 👇
Here’s a look at the top storylines headed into this weekend:
1️⃣ A New Major Champion on the Horizon?
The USDGC has a history of crowning first-time Major champions, with 4 of the last 5 winners earning their first MPO Major at this event. With an impressive 11 players throughout its history achieving their first Major victory at Winthrop, all eyes are on whether 2024 will introduce another new Major winner. Could rising stars like Niklas Anttila or Anthony Barela break through this year?
2️⃣ Gannon Buhr Aiming for Historic Milestones
Gannon Buhr, the 2022 USDGC champion, is looking to join the elite club of multi-time winners. With 7 Major and Elite Series victories this season, he’s third on the all-time single-season win list, behind legends like Paul McBeth. His 11 podium finishes this year are just one shy of the all-time record, further establishing him as a dominant force. Buhr will aim to bounce back from last year’s 27th place finish at USDGC to solidify his place in disc golf history.
3️⃣ Ricky Wysocki’s Long Quest for a USDGC Title
Despite finishing in the top 20 at his last 30 Major appearances, Ricky Wysocki hasn’t won a Major since 2017. He’s finished on the USDGC podium 6 times, tied for second-most all-time, yet victory has always eluded him at Winthrop, the Major he’s competed in the most without a win. Can Wysocki, now a 12-time USDGC competitor, finally secure that elusive title and break his winless streak?
4️⃣ Kyle Klein Defending His 2023 USDGC Title
Kyle Klein stunned the field last year, claiming his first Major title at USDGC with a 1056-rated performance. Having finished in the top 10 in his last four USDGC appearances, Klein’s consistency at Winthrop makes him a formidable force as he looks to defend his crown. Can Klein join the ranks of back-to-back USDGC champions like Paul McBeth and Ken Climo? The stage is set for an exciting battle.
